Fatal MVA on Berry Road

Station 12 was dispatched for the Motor Vehicle Collision with subjects trapped and vehicle on fire at the intersection of Berry Road and Bunker Hill Road. RE-123, and E-121 responded with a total of nine personnel. E-101 responded from the quarters of Engine Company 3, as they were filling in from a working house fire earlier in the morning. While in route to the scene, Charles County Communication advised Sheriff Officer on scene with a possible Priority 4 subject. RE-123, and E-101 arrived on scene to find a single vehicle accident with one subjected ejected. Captain 12 established the Berry Road Command, while E-101 extinguished a small fire coming from the remains of the vehicles engine. After consulting Medical Direction, PA-128 confirmed that the subject that was ejected to be Priority 4.

There was severe damage to the vehicle dispursing debris over 50' by 100' area, and severe damage to the intersections traffic light pole. RE-123 searched the remains of the vehicle for any other possible subjects who might be trapped. The search turned up negative, RE-123 began cleaning up debris with absorbant, and brooms. E-121's crew manned a 1 3/4" bumper line for back up, and later helped RE-123's crew with clean up. SMECO arrived on scene and secured the power to the traffic light pole. State Highway Administration was called in to further clean up the roadway. Command was terminated, and the scene turned over to the Maryland State Police. Fire Department Units opperated on scene for alittle under two hours.
